The famous Spanish region of Costa Cálida is located on the Mediterranean coast of the province of Murcia and has a length of 250 kilometers, running from the beaches of El Mojón in the province of Alicante, Costa Blanca, to the beach of Los Cocedores on the border of the Almeria coast.
Lots of sun and little rain with more than 18 degrees on average per year, are the characteristics of this coastal area, its location in the Gulf of Mazarrón, prevents the entry of cold waters of the Atlantic from Gibraltar and this makes the sea of the warmest Murcian coast in Spain, with an average of five degrees warmer on its beaches than others.

There are cliffs, coves and sandbars. It is, in general terms, a barren and steep coast. The natural richness of its waters is remarkable in Cabo de Palos, where there is an important marine reserve. There are also various protected natural areas, such as the Salinas and Arenales of San Pedro del Pinatar, Calblanque, Monte de las Cenizas and Peña del Águila, Sierra de la Muela, Cabo Tiñoso and Roldán, the regional park of Cabo Cope and Puntas of Calnegre or the protected landscape of Cuatro Calas.
The northern end of this coastline includes the Mar Menor, a saltwater coastal lagoon which, at around 170 km², is the largest in Europe. The Mar Menor is separated from the Mediterranean by a 22 km strip of sand called La Manga, on which one of the pillars of tourist development in the region has been built.

The Costa Cálida is a wonderful place, full of multiple advantages, whether for its climate, unique and healthy, for its gastronomy, which offers traditional Mediterranean dishes with their own identity, its magnificent beaches, many of which have been awarded the Distinctive "Q" of Tourist Quality, especially for water sports enthusiasts, since it is home to many renowned diving, windsurfing or sailing schools, as well as several high-level sports centers linked to Olympic sports are located on its banks.

Without detracting from the wide range of possibilities offered to golfers, since there are numerous golf courses scattered throughout the province, all of them of high quality, some of them internationally renowned.

The fact is that whether for its ancient cities full of history, of Roman or Arab origin, its luxury hotels or its inexpensive campsites, its luxurious restaurants or small charming cafes, its luxurious spa centers or its thermal resorts modest, everyone will find something to their liking.

The Costa Cálida is accessible by road, train and plane through Corvera Airport, which is equidistant from almost every town on the Murcian coast. They effectively structure communications from the north to the south of the Costa Cálida.
The proximity of several hospitals, strategically located, ensures health care for all people, whether residents or visitors, with a high level of professionalism and deployment of means, in addition, various health centers distributed throughout the Coastal cities ensure all potential users do not have to make long journeys to access health centers.

In addition to all this, it is worth mentioning the proximity to Sierra Nevada, located in Andalusia, and the southernmost ski resort in Europe and the highest altitude on the Iberian Peninsula.
Sierra Nevada is well known for being the only mountain range with 150 skiable kilometers in southern Spain, its highest peak, Veleta at 3,300 meters above sea level and its good climate.
In winter there is a large agglomeration of people from all countries who come to practice winter sports and in summer all kinds of mountain and outdoor sports are practiced (cycling, horse riding, hiking, climbing, etc. ).

This trend has changed over the years and more and more foreign citizens are establishing their residence on the Costa Cálida, thanks to its very healthy subtropical climate, with a profusion of means, services and facilities in line with the requirements of modern times .
The diversity of real estate, as well as the quality of new constructions favor the acquisition of houses by new owners, because we can be assured with absolute certainty that on the Costa Cálida there are possibilities for all budgets.
Due to its cultural, historical, gastronomic and landscape richness, the Region of Murcia and more particularly the Costa Cálida is one of the references in terms of international tourism.

CARTAGENA
The port of Cartagena, on the Mediterranean Costa Cálida, has been popular since the times of the Carthaginians. Due to its strategic location on the Murcian coast, it has been inhabited by different cultures, who have left their mark of their artistic heritage.
A visit to the city and its museums will immerse us in the history of a city strongly linked to the sea. Carthaginians and Romans were already interested in this maritime enclave, from which the Latin name, Cartago Nova, takes its current name.
Cartagena's rich heritage extends to the shores of its marina. The wall demarcates the old town. The entrance to the city center is dominated by the Palacio Consistorial or Town Hall, a jewel of modernist architecture from the early 20th century.
It is also worth visiting the fishing district of Santa Lucia. The city of Cartagena also organizes important cultural events every year, such as the world music festival "La Mar de Músicas". Also note its historic Carthaginian and Roman festivities which commemorate, in the second half of September, the Punic founding of the city and its Roman reconquest.

The varied landscape of the Region of Murcia enriches a table where the products of the orchard, the sea and the interior come together. In Cartagena, without a doubt, salted fish, fish, cauldrons and paellas are the rule.

It has a very developed and high quality service infrastructure, hospitals, dentists, universities, schools, good communications, shopping centers, restaurants,...

The eastern coast of Cartagena, washed mainly by the Mar Menor, has important residential areas that present a wide range of accommodation and services. Here are towns like Mar de Cristal, Los Urrutias, Los Nietos, Playa Honda or Cabo de Palos, famous for its port and lighthouse.

MAZARRÓN

Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón, on the Murcian Costa Cálida, offer visitors a rich artistic heritage and an interesting leisure offer on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
Mazarrón is an urban core and its largest population is Puerto de Mazarrón.
More than 35 kilometers of beaches, pristine coves and rocky bottoms provide the ideal place to relax in the sun, practice water sports and scuba diving, and sample the local gastronomy. In the Port, the fishing port and the fish market bring the traveler closer to its maritime tradition.

Despite its tourist appeal, Mazarrón has experienced controlled urban development, unlike other coastal areas.

ÁGUILAS

Águilas is a beautiful port town nestled in the heart of the Costa Cálida. Its maritime tradition is currently associated with a wide tourist offer which has one of its main attractions on its vast coastline.
Águilas, an ancient Roman fishing port, had its modern foundation in the Age of Enlightenment, when in 1785 it began its activity as a departure port for different products, such as esparto and barrilla. In the 19th century, it became an important mining enclave of which we remember the Hornillo quay, from where iron, lead and silver were loaded from neighboring operations. In the urban center of Águilas, with a deep marine flavor, it is worth visiting the beautiful gardens with century-old ficus trees in the Plaza de España, the town hall and the parish church of San José. At the top of the ancient area stands

the castle-fortress of San Juan de Águilas and the Roman baths on a promontory.

This fishing village offers visitors a vast coastline of 34 kilometers, with beaches and coves awarded the Blue Flag, a fact which, combined with an enviable average temperature, makes it one of the main tourist destinations in Murcia. We can find solitary coves and beaches with mirror waters, such as La Higuerica, La Carolina or Calabardina; urban beaches, such as Las Delicias; and one of the best areas of the Mediterranean coast to practice scuba diving, thanks to its excellent rocky seabed, especially on Isla del Fraile and in the rocky area of Cabo Cope.
The surroundings of Águilas will allow you to discover other places of unusual beauty, such as the Protected Landscape of Cuatro Calas. In the festive calendar of Águilas, it is worth highlighting its carnival, a festival declared of international tourist interest.

In recent years, the tourist development of Águilas has started to accelerate again with beautiful modern villas and large apartment complexes located at the top with excellent panoramic views of the sea. Prices still remain very competitive, and generally lower than those of the Costa Blanca.

SAN JUAN DE LOS TERREROS

San Juan de los Terreros is a beautiful coastal town located in the far southeast of Spain, more precisely on the border between Almería and Murcia. It is widely known for its stunning unspoilt beaches, crystal clear waters and sandy coves.

San Juan de los Terreros has a number of Andalusian bars and restaurants serving traditional Spanish tapas and a daily menu. You can simply enjoy an exotic cocktail while overlooking the Mediterranean Sea from one of the many beach bars in the area or you can indulge in traditional Spanish cuisine while enjoying the company of family and friends.

While several years of development have gone into the area to accommodate the growing popularity of tourism, San Juan de los Terreros has managed to retain its ancient Andalusian flair.
Its tourist and urban development, its exceptional climate, its sports facilities, its transport links and its new infrastructures mean that prices are increasing, but remain very attractive, and with a high quality-price ratio.

It is now a favorite destination for families and couples looking for the perfect beach holiday in the southern region of Spain to call home.
